Lucky Hamish from ABC Rotorua

Hamish_small

Two year-old Hamish is pretty excited about having just started at ABC as part of a nationwide enrolment promotion.  And Hamish and his family have another reason to be excited as well ... They were one of two winning Rotorua families and have pocketed a $500.00 grocery voucher for their trouble!

The teachers at ABC Rotorua say Hamish is a chirpy wee youngster and has settled in really well.

Congratulations to Hamish and his parents and welcome to our family!

ABC at the Auckland Parent & Child Show

A very enjoyable weekend for the team at the Auckland Parent & Child Show.  This year we had our usual stand plus sponsorship of the Parent room.  A big thank you to Emma and her team of faithful Centre Directors and teachers for the hours at the show and the hours in the rain on Sunday afternoon packing down!

Also a thank you to Kurt and the Grocare team for providing us with their fabulous products.  The versatile poppet chairs (in the pic below you can see a wee lad sitting in one of the chairs while Sneha from Marketing has simply turned it over for grown-up use!) were a huge hit with every parent who spotted them.  These may just be our favourite things!

The Science Viewing Station was also a hit with more than a few ECE teachers stopping by to have a nosy and take a Grocare pamphlet.

We received some great feedback from parents who already have their children with ABC and we all felt pretty proud to be sporting our ABC uniforms!

Thank you again to all involved!

Lots of interest in Napier & Hastings

With a competition to win Mr Bear and an enrolment incentive to go into a draw to win either an iPad 2 or a $500 grocery voucher, our stand was pretty busy with visitors wanting to know more about our eight childcare Centres in the area.

Great effort Team ABC

Childcare in Napier & Hastings

Big weekend for our Hawke's Bay team bringing the message of all our wonderful centres in the region to the Mums, Dads, Nanas, Granddads & other whanau at the local baby & child show. Also a great opportunity to touch base with some of our fellow childcare providers in Napier and Hastings.

Yay for Hawke's Bay!!

Hey hey it's All Blacks Day!

A big day at ABC Kamo North today ... a beaut idea from teacher Hannah had everyone, teachers and children, dressing up as All Blacks.  Three year-old Raumati got right into the spirit of the day and then everyone went outside for a group photo.  They even got a visit from the local newspaper!

And here’s another interesting wee nugget from Kamo North.  They have two new enrolments at the centre, Dan Carter and Richie McCaw.  That’s Richie McCaw on top!  ABC Kamo North sounds like a fun place to be.

STOP cuts to ECE rally in Auckland

Img_1598
ABC NZ CEO Rob Facer donned a green shirt and took a turn on the speaker's podium at the NZEI-organised rally to protest ECE cuts in Auckland this morning.

More than 1000 people marched along Queen St and then gathered in Freyburg Place to hear a range of speakers including Mums, teachers and academics, talk about why 100% qualified ECE teachers is the only way to go.

Rob talked about how all those gathered were in it together and how important it was for employers to strive for 100% qualified teachers and for the government to support all organisations in these endeavours.

ABC NZ is proud to have more than 96% of centre-based staff ECE qualified or in training.

Congratulations ABC Bellevue Montessori

Congrats to ABC Bellevue Montessori who have been shortlisted for a cover of the Montessori Aotearoa New Zealand magazine.

This from Michaela at Bellevue.

"At ABC Bellevue Montessori we have been invited as members of MANZ (Montessori Aotearoa New Zealand) to submit some pictures of our busy Montessori children for their ‘once in a life time offer”! The offer is basically that if they select one of our pictures for the cover of their Montessori Voices magazine, one of our teachers can attend a professional development course that they run, for free!

Since all the teachers here are ‘expert photographers’ we decided that this would be a great opportunity to get some free pd as well as some publicity too! With the help of marketing and the A.M, we selected our favourite pictures that best show case our centre.

Last week we discovered that we have been short listed for the cover of either the September or December magazine! Fingers crossed we get show off our wonderful centre. Take a look and see what you think? We think we are in with a pretty good chance!”

Meeting the BIG boss!

Abc_hokowhitu_te_manawa_john_k

BIG day for ABC Hokowhitu who met Prime Minister John Key at Te Manawa this morning.  Who says our Hokowhitu team isn't in the loop with the movers and the shakers?!

The two Megans (!)  and children (L-R) Mila, Leevi, Nina, Quin, Kayd, Jack, Caleb, Kazia & Simon were stoked with the visit particularly the new museum space specially for under 8's.

The funny part of the picture-with-the-Prime-Minister story is that the Hokowhitu team had to chase him down for a second lot of photos cos the light wasn't that good for the first crop and there were other (gasp!) children in the pic that weren't from ABC Hokowhitu!!  And we couldn't have that!

The excursion was to mark the opening of the brand new Kids Gallery at Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science & History in Palmerston North.  Singing, dancing, story-telling and a picnic to finish!

A great time was had by all ... a big thank you to the folks at Te Manawa and our very own Megan Edwards for organising the trip.
